Whitney Thore weight loss before Season 11 release
Whitney’s show, which she has been the star of since 2015, first enlightened viewers on the health issues that caused the dancer to put on hundreds of pounds. She was forced to give up dancing, a big topic on the show. Many of the “My Big Fat Fabulous Life” episodes discuss her love for dancing and how she’s returned to it, this time as a body positivity advocate. Over the show’s many seasons, TLC viewers have come to know Thor and her family very well.
Her mother, Babs Thore, was a fan favorite who would always appear on the show. Towards the end of 2022, Babs passed away at age 76. Viewers will always remember her for her high spirits and positive attitude. She was always willing to join Whitney in all her endeavors and was never without a hilarious one-liner.
The loss was tragic for Whitney, who has since been open about her mother’s health issues with cerebral amyloid angiopathy. While she’s still mourning and experiencing the grief of her mother’s passing, she continued to film the show, and the main focus of the Season 11 premiere was Babs’ funeral.
Leading up to the new season, viewers of “My Big Fat Fabulous Life” discussed Whitney’s physical changes. She looked much thinner, resembling the pre-PCOS Whitney who was still starting in her dancing career. Fans of the show wondered if she got surgery or was on weight loss supplements.
Thore confirmed that while she didn’t have surgery, the secret to her weight loss was grief. She was fed up with the rumors, stating, “I think it’s obvious that I have lost some weight, and that is true. And people say, like, ‘Is it surgery?’ and I’m like, ‘No, it’s grief, but thanks.’”
