During the filming of The Twilight Zone, July 23, 1982, actors Vick Morrow and two young actors Mika Ding Lee (7 years old) and Rene Shin-Yi Chen (6 years old) were killed in a helicopter crash used in the filming. The helicopter flew at too low a height to avoid shots of pyrotechnics. During one of these shots, the tail rotor was damaged, and Morrow and Lee were killed by pieces of it. Chen died during a helicopter crash. Everyone inside the helicopter survived. This case received wide publicity and criticism towards the filmmakers, who were accused of violating safety rules on the set.
