After the end of the war, the Japanese intelligence officer Hiru Onoda hid in the jungles of the Philippines for a long time, until in 1974 his former commander ordered the release of duties. All this time, any attempts to inform the soldier about the end of the war were perceived as misinformation from the enemy. Thus, Hiru, 27 years old, had no idea that the war had really ended.
