The daughter of German aristocrats, Countess Vera Gottlieb Anna von Lendorf, who began her modeling career at the age of 20 in the 1960s. By the standards of those times, Verushka was too tall and thin, so in order to get a job she was forced to come up with a pseudonym that sounded like a Russian name.
