The crash of L-1011 in Riyadh

The disaster occurred on Tuesday August 19, 1980 at the airport of Riyadh. A few minutes after the departure on board the airliner performing the passenger flight on the route Karachi — Riyadh — Jeddah, a fire started. The crew managed to make an emergency landing in Riyadh, but the airport emergency services opened the door to the passenger compartment only 23 minutes after the plane landed, when there was no one to save. All 287 passengers and 14 crew members on board were killed. The total number of victims is 301 people.
