Perhaps the most famous myth of hedgehogs is the myth that they carry apples, mushrooms and leaves on their needles in order to collect winter stock in a hole. As you understand, this is an outright lie and omnivorous hedgehogs feed on insects, worms, amphibians, beetles and grubs. True, they can also eat berries and apples, but they are definitely not able to carry on their backs, as they physically cannot curl up like that.
