Lingering whistle
If you missed the screech described earlier and continued to operate the brakes without proper repair, then be prepared for the fact that soon you will hear a terrible lingering whistle. This happens because the abrasive is completely erased from the pads and they now rub against a steel disk. Now you have to change not only the pads, but also the brake disc.
