Chimpanzee
These smart creatures are the closest «relatives» of man. If you put a 2-year-old child and a chimpanzee nearby, you will not notice much difference in the level of their development. Chimpanzees (and especially bonobos) have a decent sense of humor and can communicate using gestures. They are also capable of manufacturing tools, tearing leaves from sticks and sharpening their ends.
